Transfer to impurities

The transfer to an impurity with subsequent capture leads to an additional loss term, decreasing the observed lifetime. Air and water contaminations of 0.01 ppm lead to a correction of 0.3% of \( \Lambda _{s} \), while capture on deuterium is insignificant. Tenfold higher contaminations are allowed if they can be accurately (10% level) measured and if their effect can be extrapolated to zero.
