A lifting fixture originally designed for use in Hall B was used to install detector modules in the G0 Ferris Wheel. It could possibly also be used to install external lead chunks on the down-stream end-cap of the G0 SMS. The fixture consists of an end-plate which must be bolted to the object to be lifted. This is connected to a shaft which can rotate in a "spindle". The spindle can be picked from two points, one near the "object" end above the axis of rotation and the other at the opposite end. With appropriate additional rigging, the location of a crane hook over center of gravity of the "boom plus object" can be adjusted. These pictures show the fixture where it is stored in the JLab "bone yard". Click on an image to view an enlargement. All photos are in jpeg format. They are also available from the G0 ftp site.
