    Run Coordinator's Report - 14 December 2003

    General Comments/Problems/New Information

Not the most productive of days between electronics problems (see below) and Hall A energy measurement.

    New Information

    Corrections

There was at least one error in my previous RC report. I said we needed to take 30 hours of data on the radiator alone to help nail down our background asymmetry. I meant to say 30 hours on flyswatter alone (Thanks Serge).

    Past 24 Hours

    Swing

Started the shift closing out the Moller systematics program and then taking some short runs to set PID cuts for use in the CFD threshold study program to be run overnight. Then the problem associated with the Musson box and the change to chopper slit A discussed in yesterday's RC report was discovered and corrected (g0log 71103). Unfortunately, a fake KGB signal source was used in making the adjustment and not replaced with the real source until day shift (71172). The NA time encoding data taken overnight as part of the CFD threshold study was compromised and will probably need to be retaken. Kaz took another RIP (RHWP/IA/PZT) scan and got the beam feedback ready to go. The beam went down for a couple of hours due to a loss of communication with one of the zones in the linac.

    Owl

This shift began with the CFD threshold study needed to perform the Q2 and centering (as mentioned above this data will probably need to be retaken. Another RIP scan was taken and one feedback run started before end of shift.

    Day

The beam went away at 09:00 for the Hall A energy spread minimization program. In the morning we took several runs with no beam in order to look at pedestal differences. Paul and Dominique did some DAQ work in the afternoon. We were unable to get a hold of John Musson so we did not get a Musson box firmware upgrade today. Dave Gaskell did use his time as shift leader of a shift with no beam to do some more analysis of the Moller data he took the previous day (71169, 71170, 71174). Essentially, Dave saw no change in polarization as he went up to 10 uA in beam current or changed the laser phase.

    Future Plans

    Sunday Swing/Monday Owl

    1. RIP Scan
    2. Halo Calibration
    3. Deadtime Studies with Fastbus
    4. Beam Feedback Runs on LH2
    5. RIP Scan

    Monday Day

Beam will be off to repair Hall C chopper slit and install Wien quad in injector. Opportunistic access to install Musson box firmware upgrade and remove TLDs.

    Monday Swing

    1. CFD Threshold Study
    2. RIP Scan

    Tuesday Owl

    1. Beam Feedback Runs on LH2
    2. RIP Scan

    Tuesday Day

    1. Energy Measurement
    2. BPM/BCM Beam-Based Pedestal Calibration
    3. Fast Raster Calibration
    4. BPM Calibration (by moving beam)

    Tuesday Swing

    Q2 Measurement (magnetic field study)

    Wednesday Owl

    Beam Centering Measurement
