First at all, Kaz has written a summary of the beam studies that have been perfomed last week.
After yesterday meeting, I have updated the run plan that I send around. Please read the new version and send me your comments.
Since yesterday, we have received no beam. A shunt in
one of a arc magnet, followed by a water leak in a power supply has
prevented
MCC to deliver beam to us up to now (17:00). The beam
restoration is in progress, MCC will try to resteer the beam directly in
the beam dump without using the dipole correctors that are installed on
the G0 girder. Because we had no beam we were unable to perform the
last test of the beam studies : check of the charge and position
feedback.
This test is post-poned until tomorrow during the day. This night and
tomorrow,
we will center our targets on the beam, perform a first round of FPD gain
calibration, check out the luminosity detectors and do a
careful
calibration of the BCMs. Those are items 1 through 10 on the run
plan.
While waiting for beam, the target has been cool down and the magnet is turned on at 5000A. The magnet should be up before we receive beam this night. We took cosmic, green block measurement as well as white noise measurement (DNA for NA). The analysis is pending but a few channels have been found disconnected, an Fastbus ADC module as been replaced... Brian, Angela and Joachim reminded me that if you see errors in the NA electronic (either from the analysis or from the red light blanking upstair in the counting house) , they should be called (see pager number in counting house).
The analysis crew met this morning to get organized. Kaz is going to complete the analysis of the beam data taken last week. We will keep a table with the IA, RHWP and PST scan calibrations results under http://g0web.jlab.org/feedback2/feedback.html When doing a parity scan please input your new data in the file. Sarah will work on checking the stability of the DNA for the NA electronic and Herbert will work on the measurement of ground loop effects on the BCM pedestal. The outstanding issues of the analysis are the analysis of the Naïf hybrid detectors (Paul is looking into that) and the GUI interface with the database. Damon, our current Analysis coordinator reminded us in the meeting this afternoon that he should be contacted for analysis issues.
Hoping to report tomorrow that we took some data.
your RC,
Julie Roche
