11/25/03 Beam Studies

Day (8:00 - 16:00)
- Jianglai was able to find and fix the problem with the ntuples not showing the charge asymmetries for BCM1,BCM2 and the UNSER, as well as fixing the realtime monitor was fixed to show the helicity correlated differences and the charge asymmetry.
- The auto-analyzer at the end of the DAQ run was fixed by Paul, and the beam feedback code is now installed.
- At the scheduling meeting, there was extensive talk about the source of orthogonality breakdown both in the injector and the Hall.
a. The cryounit as well as the cryomodules produce non-orthogonality in the injector. Using the skew quads on either sides is the main method around this problem. The specific settings for the cryomodules are still under development, but Chao and Alex did come up with numbers for the cryounit skew quad settings:
Alex: MQS0i07 = 3gauss, MQS0L02 = 4gauss
Chao: MQS0i07 = 1.5gauss, MQS0L02 = 2.1gauss
I'll try these numbers during the next beamstudies period.
b. There is a global rotation involved before the 15degree bend, and a transverse focusing at the 15degree bend. This combination supposedly breaks the orthogonality at the 15 degree bend.
c. There are different amounts of transverse focusing in x and y in the Hall. This combined with a global rotation induces different orthogonality values in the Hall.
Swing (16:00 - 24:00)
- No beam. MCC
- No beam. MCC
Owl (00:00 - 08:00)
- There will be beam tonight (Owl Friday). I've been told midnight will be the drop-dead time to stop HallA work and goto G0 parity studies.
- Analysis is ongoing on the data that have been taken so far.
