Run Coordinator Daily Report for 11 May Owl to 12 May Swing

Summary

Beam came really back this morning at  around 02:00.
We took alternate HallC ON/OFF data until 08:00 with HallA ON.
HallA went off at 08:00 as scheduled but due to beam studies we only got the beam in HallC around  09:30.
MCC gave us the missing 1h30' without Hall A until 17:30
HallA is now back albeit at low current (<10 uA).

GMS is still off.
 

Significant News

• Following today MCC meetings, the schedule is the following:

Leakage Runs without HallA:
      -Wed Day  (completed)
    -Thu Day
    -Fri Day
    -Sun between 04:00 (4am) and 12:00 (noon)
This is not the best time for us but there has been some fight with  HallA and B  (and within them) as we have all conflicting requirements
(HallA wants to go to 2-pass which switches off both B and C, HallB wants to change target and requires additional calibration runs).

That compromises transverse running (we can keep it on the books in case HallA would suffer a serious breakdown before Sunday)
 but we are thinking with Doug Beck of ways out..

• During the next 24 hours we will have 2 shifts with HallA+B ON followed by 1 shift (starting tomorrow at 08:00 of Hall B+C leakage.
• For Wednesday Swing and  Thursday Owll we will run the reduced program with HallA and HallB ON as shown in the detailed run plan below.
• During Wednesday Day, we'll follow the more complex program with HallA OFF as outlined below.
  
  
  Short term Plans



Wed 16:00-Thu 08:00 HallA and Hall B are ON


• Take a Moeller measurement with IHWP=IN
• Switch IHWP IN==>OUT
• Take another Moeller
• Set feeback
• Start production runs  with IHWP=IN.

     Alternate 2 types of runs with HallC ON and OFF with the following settings:

- Reference_FiB_Buddy
- NA thresholds to 7 and FR thesholds to 50mV

Set lumis to low gain

•  Switch to standard  lumi  HV file HV.2004-02-19.lumi_halo_on.hvc
• Set the 6 lumi amplifier settings in Electronics Shack  upstairs to low gain : 10^5 and 10 uA/V

(if you don't know how to do,ask the RC or another knowledgeable person).

• Hall C ON, 40 uA, set the feedback
• Take a 1h run

 
• Set lumis to high gain
• Switch from standard  lumi  HV file HV.2004-02-19.lumi_halo_on.hvcto HV.lumi_highhigh_on.hvc
• Set the 6 lumi amplifier settings in Electronics Shack  upstairs to high gain: 10^6 and 1 uA/V
• Hall C OFF (Laser off, slits wide open),
• Take a 10' run

 

 

Alternate runs with HallC ON and OFF

Thu 08:00-16:00 HallA OFF and Hall B  ON

During these studies we will alternate  4 types of runs:
• Hall B off, Hall C into Hall A slits by rotating laser phase (detailed instructions for MCC are given in g0log 84607).

This will allow to measure HallC_leak directly. Take 2 runs of 10', one at beginning of shift and one around the end
(1/2h before Hall A is scheduled to come back). I have arranged with Hall B that before doing this test, we should ask them the
permission to shut off the Hall B laser (that will be done at the end of a Hall B run).
Increase lumi sensivity (HV file to highhigh and amplifier x 10): see below
• Hall B on, HallC laser off. This will measure directly Hall B leakage.

Increase lumi sensivity (HV file to highhigh and amplifier x 10).
Take 3 runs of  10', one at beginning,  one at end (preceding or following HallB off runs) and one in the middle of a 8h period.
• The bulk of the data is be to alternate HallB on, HallC on, with 40 muA  into HallC (standard production run, 1h)

with HallB on, Hall C on, but sent into Hall A slits (10'  runs):
    - with HallB+C on, we measure the asymmetry in cut0
    - with HallB on and HallC beam into HallA slits we measure HallB+C leakage.

The following sequence minimizes the changes of settings:

• Leakage studies likely to continue until Friday Day + Sun 04:00-12:00
• To be followed by detector tests? (could also be done on Fri Swing)
• Transverse running becomes highly hypothetical

 

 
 
 

Concerns

Don't forget to register tomorrow to Run-Around JLab Race. If you are on shift, look for a non-racing mate to replace you around 15:00-16:00. There will be special exemptions for the Analysis Workers and the RC :-)
