Run Coordinator Daily Report for 29 April Owl to 30 April Swing
Summary
We switched to 20 uA LH2 running on 29 April at
17:00
for testing sensivity of asymmetry to beam current.
This morning MCC tried to accelerate up to 140uA in Hall A. They
could
reach 135 uA but with a lot of trips
(avalability went down to 75%). After one hour they gave up and came back
to 120 uA as before.
Running smoothly since then.
Significant News
-
Asymmetry results at 10 uA seem not to be what was expected. More
analysis work and tests with beam
(hence the present running at 20 uA) are under
way
Short term Plans
-
Run 20 uA on LH2 until Sunday morning (8 shifts in
total needed as estimated by our Analysis Coordinator))
-
IHWP will be changed from IN==>OUT on Friday
evening.
-
Moeller will be done during Saturday Day Shift (D. Gaskell
will be on shift)
-
A IN/OUT check will be done at that time
Longer term Plans
-
Switch to 15 uA, Al frame, IHWP = OUT on Sunday morning (no
Moeller
or RIP scan deemed necessary to switch
from 20 to 15 uA)
-
We need about 48 hours of Al frame data, so that would extend
until
Tuesday day/swing
(change OUT==>IN on Monday morning).
-
We must take into account in the timing that there will be beam
studies
on Monday (2 hours), Tuesday (4hours) and
Wednesday (3hours) with controlled access to Hall C (lot of work to
be done in Hall in preparation for SOS new
calorimeter test).
-
Target boiling studies (4h) could be scheduled on Tuesday
afternoon after beam returns.
-
We could start threshold tests on Tuesday Swing/Wednesday Owl
for 24-36h (until Thu morning)
-
Thursday all day will be devoted to SOS calorimeter tests (1
shift)
Concerns
-
The last 3 days (10-13 May) will be devoted to transverse
spin.
-
Whatever additional tests for understanding the systematics will have to
be scheduled on Fri-Sat-Sun.
