    Run Coordinator's Report for 22 April Owl to 23 April Swing


    Summary

    After recovery from yestesterday's Magnet quench,  We have had a quiet night and day of LH2 production data.
    MCC needed an injector access to replace autistic trim cards.
    Beam is more stable following yesterdays investigations by MCC.
    Energy Measurement done.
    Remainder of run outlined in morning RC meeting.  See below.


    Significant News

    Beam Stability:  Yesterday we gave beam to MCC to investigate the cause of high trip rate.  Reza performed an
    injector optimization but this did not cure the problem, but helped to isolate the trouble to 3 RF cavities which were
    unstable.  These cavities were bypassed and rest of machine gradients adjusted to compensate.  Trip rate is way down.

    Lost a signal to Oct 7, Det 8 FL.  We will send in a replacement team if/when beam gone for significant time.

    A great increase in halo (10-20kHz) was traced to energy instabilities in the accelerator.  After phoning MCC, they "tweaked" the
    energy a bit and halo rate dropped back down to about 3kHz.

    To help answer lingering questions, the discussions settled out with

    10uA, LH2 Running:  Need 48 "beam" hours (24 data/tape hours) .

    Aluminum Frame data: Need 48 beam hours (24 data/tape hours) .


    Target Boiling study: Need 4 hours.


    Transverse Polarization running.
        For this we have a slight extension in the run:  This moves our 'end date' to Thursday, May 13.  In exchange we will give
        Rolf a shift or two of Detector tests involving the pivot target and an SOS move.
        Also required will be to establish the desired launch angle, a moller run (or two), and probably a mini spin dance.
