Run Coordinator's Report for 13 April Swing to 15 April Swing
Summary
Target empty and in out-of-beam position and magnet ramped down during
MCC compatibility studies. Restored beam delivery to the hall during day
and swing shift April 15.
Significant News
-
MCC performed compatibility studies for simultaneous beam delivery to all
Halls.
-
Hall C open for cleanup during dayshift April 14. All shifts were
cancelled until noon April 15
-
Beam was announced for noon and started at 1pm on Thursday April 15.
-
Verified beam positions, turned Moller magnets on and Kaz checked beam
quality. In the meantime Hall A finished cooling their target so we
started cooling down ours and ramping up magnet.
-
Moller measurements while waiting for magnet and target: P = 74%. Check

-
Dave also determined that we have very small leakage from Halls A and B.
Check Log-entry
number
82207 for details.
-
New DMCH box works fine in 120Hz mode. We will have to test the box on a
longer term with production data for a complete evaluation. For now we
woill run with this box.
-
Starting to take production data on LH2
Short term Plans
-
Beam energy measurement of the beam into Hall C (Mark Jones).
-
Opportunistic half-hour access to the Hall to change a base (Julie). Let
RC know if you need an access to the Hall as well.
-
Moller/IHWP insertion/Moller every three days. This will put us on
schedule to take another Moller on Sunday, but we may wait until after
the CD-0 tour on Monday for the next one.
-
Continue with LH2 production running.
Longer term Plans
-
Deadtime study at 20, 30, 40 uA (three 1hr runs at Angela's request)
-
PMT gain calibration at 1uA (6hrs at Julie's request)
-
Continue with LH2 production running until Monday when the accelerator
shuts down again for the CD-0/DOE tour.
Concerns
-
HV for Detector 4-15-FL HV won't stay on.
See log-entry number
82215 for details.
-
Spikes in French electronics
-
Non-statistical widths in detectors 13 and 14 of octants 4 and 8.
-
NA LTD errors still occurring at a small rate. Brian has generated a
"HowTo" document (located on the G0 web page under
http://g0web.jlab.org/manual/Electronics_manuals.html)
for trouble shooting.
