Run Coordinator's Report for 23 March Swing to 25 March Day
Summary
We have continued to take data with transversely polarized beam on
LH2 and Al frame targets. This program will conclude tomorrow
and we will return to normal, longitudinally polarized running.
Significant News
- We have resumed (as of Tuesday swing) taking 4 hours of GMS data
every day.
- There was a fast dump of the SMS Wednesday owl (80177)caused
by the failure of a PLC analog output module (80201).
During the access to correct this, the problem with the target vacuum
PV12 interlock was fixed (80201).
- The target FSD box can now be rebooted from the reboot panel GUI (80206).
This should save a trip into the hall when the box gives false FSD
faults.
- Have had a fair amount of trouble getting beam feedback functional
during transverse running, particularly when running on the target frame
(due to the reduced beam current). Time constraints have prevented us
from performing full RIP scans to recalibrate devices as needed. Most of
the time Kaz has succeeded in nursing the feedback along.
- Tomorrow we will perform a micro spin dance with two goals: spot
check that we are still at a zero crossing in the longitudinal
polarization (i.e. the beam is transverse) and optimize the Wien setting
for longitudinal polarization running. As a part of this procedure the
MCC will perform a Mott measurement.
Plans
- Take data on LH2 overnight (IHWP is IN).
- 08:00 => Set up the Moller in preparation for the micro spin dance.
- 09:00 - 13:00 => Perform micro spin dance and tune longitudinally
polarized beam into the hall.
- 13:00 - 14:00 => RIP scan and feedback device calibration.
- 14:00 - 16:00 => BCM/BPM calibration?
- 16:00 => Resume normal asymmetry running.
Concerns
- Non-statistical widths in detectors 13 and 14 of octants 4 and 8
- Elevated Silviu ratio in detectors 1 and 2 of octants 2 and 6
- Spikes in French electronics
- Apparent increasing frequency of NA LTD errors
- Crosstalk with target IOC and target FSD box when the Musson box is
rebooted remotely
- Changed behavior of BPM 3H00C Y position with respect to other hall
