RC Summary
Monday, March 15 swing through Tuesday, March 16 day
- Took data on LH2 at 40 uA. IHWP out.
Achievements and events
- 18:30 3/15 Harp scans look good. G0A in particular has very
little noise. G0 is still noisy.
- 19:00 - 04:00 beam position and parity checkout
- 04:10 3/16 begin LH2 longitudinal running. Four runs on
owl... note wrong Wien setting see below.
- 10:30 3/16 fixed beam positions by requesting H00A and G0B be
fixed, then requesting to tweak "in between" G0 and G0B. 6 mm halo
rates were then restored to usual values. This is likely a good
method to follow when requesting beam positions from scratch for the
experiment. Many thanks to Tanya Horn for staying on the phone with
MCC for an hour to get this straightened out.
- 15:00 3/16 Paul King discovered that by measuring the parity
violating asymmetry, we can also measure that the Wien angle is
wrong. Indeed this was somehow overlooked when restoring for
4-pass. The angle was changed from -12 (wrong setting) to +11
(calculated right setting) deg. Eight runs taken. Six with old
Wien. Two with new Wien.
Plans
- Smooth LH2 running with longitudinal beam.
- Moller run 3/17 early day, must be co-ordinated with machine
studies at 9:00.
- 9:00-12:00 3/17 machine studies. There are plans to get
experience with tuning in Wien section with large Wien angle during
this time.
- Energy scan 3/17 late day.
- IHWP change afternoon 3/19 followed by Moller runs 3/19 swing
(both Tanya Horn and Dave Gaskell are on shift at this time.)
- Hall C spin dance 3/22 followed by transverse running.
Unscheduled pending requests:
- Harp scans if we get new software from Arne Freyberger.
- 6 h at 1 uA Fastbus requested by Julie Roche to check PMT gains.
Desire is to perform this measurement sometime this week. Note parity
quality is not required.
Concerns and Their Resolution
- G0 harps... noise on G0A was fixed by Tony Day over the
maintenance period and looks great now. We still have to pursue
Tony and Arne to get the other harp fixed.
- Spikes in the French timing spectra appearing from time to time
... Under investigation by Jacques Arvieux.
