RC Summary
Wednesday, 10 Mar. day
through
Wednesday, 12 Mar. day
- Beam off for maintenance period.
Achievements and events
- Most things on task list of yesterday were completed, aside from:
- Incident in cooling water in North Linac caused one more day of
maintenance period.
- SMS fast dump protect ... Steve Williamson is still working on it.
- G0 Harp signal noise ... At least Arne Freyburger had a look at it.
He reported to Steve Williamson that the harps themselves
are at least functioning more-or-less correctly.
- G0 Harp PMTs ... Paul King reported that these are now patched out
of the Hall in a round-about route thanks to him and Bill Vulcan et al.
But no software or readout for these yet.
- Using G0 Halo monitors to readout harps ... Paul King found some harp
scans done when we were taking data. Looks like this is possible. Paul
will make a log entry on this. Steve
Williamson reported that Arne Freyburger has offered to write software to
conduct and analyze harp scans using the halo monitors. We should
pursue this.
- G0 Target was successfully cooled down 3/12 and we are staffing
shifts.
- Physics beam available 3/13 swing.
Plans
Tentative Recovery Plan (on delivery of physics beam to Hall C):
- Parity Quality Check (1 shift). Plan submitted by Kaz Nakahara.
- Usual LH2 running with longitudinal beam until Monday morning.
- Monday 9:00-15:00 spin dance and retune for transverse running.
- Assuming t
The Caveats:
- If longitudinal parity quality has not been established by
Monday 7:00, we will delay the spin dance and transverse running by one week.
- Even if this happens, Reza Kaizimi will likely request a few hours of
testing retuning in the Wien filter section with large Wien angles, to get
experience for eventual transverse running.
- If a transverse tune in the Wien section cannot be established, we would
likely also fall back to delaying transverse running by a week. Acceptable
in this case is good (>65%) transmission through the injector with greater
than 30 uA.
Other requests:
- coil pulsing run (15 mins) requested by Gary Rutledge
- French electronics checkout with beam (few hours, parasitic) requested by
Christophe Furget.
- Harp scans (no well-defined plan, yet; depends on some results of above)
Concerns and Their Resolution
- Spikes in the French timing spectra appear from time to
time. Under investigation by Jacques Arvieux and Sarah Phillips.
