RC Summary Tuesday/Wednesday
02-18-2004
Back to reality.
Much more mixed feeling ... :-\
- Change to LH2 was made on
Wednesday
morning
- IHWP is IN since Sunday
morning
- IHWP is OUT since this this Tuesday
morning
- PMT Gain calibration performed successfully (Tuesday)
- BCM Calibration (Wednesday) and gain change in BCM1
- Harp scan performed in Hall C (Wednesday)
- Data taking on LH2 target with 40 uA
- LH2
target parity quality
- 2.5 hours
for this period
(runs
19977-20002)
- Efficiency loss due to beam trip : 16 % (improvement is
seen)
- Efficiency loss due to Beam parity : 44 % !! see an explanation in Parity-Qual.
- Overall total of 56.8
hours (runs
19815-20002)
Achievements
during this period:
1) Beam at 40 uA and (hardly, see Halo-Rates)
running with 6
mm halo
target
2) IHWP is now OUT (IHWP-OUT)
3) Feedback operation and beam parity quality
- Feedback did not operating when beam
came back during the night (NoFeedback)
- Data do look good
when the system is operating (see Feedback)
4) 120 Hz are being replayed by the worker ( 120Hz1, 120Hz2
)
- Investigation is underway on January data
- We may come to only one 120 Hz measurement per day.
5) Observed IN+OUT asymmetry for present (Feb.) LH2 data
is
now not compatible with 0 (see IN+OUT)
as the precision increases.
The effect is however smaller than in December.
- Work is going on on various directions (Battery)
6) G0Integrity result is now reported in an entry by the workers
- (G0Int1,
G0Int2,
G0Int3).
Thanks
7) PMT gain calibration has been revisited
- New HV file has been generated (HV_New)
- Needed some refinements (Current-Limit)
8) Results of filtered Y0 test finally appeared (Y0)
9) Some (very) remote adjustment on French electronics (FromOrsay)
10) Some file assignments (Runs)
11) DNL runs (NA DNL1
and French DNL2)
during beam down periods
On
a more general basis. Mid-Term plan
1) We will likely change the IHWP
state on Thursday (2/19)
- Make a
Moeller measurement before and after
- Depending on if a beam development is made or not that day
- Make a RIP scan or
just adjust the slope
2) BCM calibration need to be done every week.
- Performed
on Wednesday
2/18 in the evening
- Mark
has asked for a gain change in BCM1. Done (see BCM1)
- Thus 2 measurements
are necessary (before and after change)
- Data can also be used to look at ToF
changes at different current
- Also can be used to look at Halo rates
variation with current
- Finally this will calibrate the BPM
pedestals
3) Harp scan to calibrate BPM position in Hall C beam line
- Performed
on Wednesday
2/18 in the afternoon
- Run plan made by Paul, thanks
- Had to run without fastfeedback, 20 uA pulsed, raster OFF (Harp-Scan)
- Should help understand the puzzle of halo rate and beam
position
4) Lumi scan on LH2 (asked by Silviu and Jianglai).
- Tentative Next
week.
- Need target expert
around
- Need to change
administrative limit on beam current
- Al frame target at
20 uA
5) GMS tests to be continued GMS
Concerns
A) Several runs reported to have
rate problems with French FPD/electronics
- Need to investigate run 19896 see DT-Pb
- Rates too low due to spikes in ToF (detected from
G0Integrity analysis) see DMCH-Pbs
B) Poor efficiency in recovering
after beam condition changes
- The 6mm halo rate is still acceptable but did increase last
night
- Is this due to steering or real halo (vacuum for example)
??
- The recovery time is long, but also there are not too well
defined strategy.
C) Puzzling situation with BPM
after changes in beam setting
- Need to perform Harp measurements (Paul)
- Check Halo and BPM positions
- Check possible offset and also that the values used are
the good ones
