RC Summary Monday/Tuesday
02-17-2004
An excellent day
of
data taking ! Following Joachim suggestion,
I should have said I am an ecstatic RC ... but what
word is then left if one does even better ;-)
- Change to LH2 was made on
Wednesday
morning
- IHWP is IN since Sunday
morning
- IHWP is OUT since this this Tuesday
morning
- Data taking on LH2 target with 40 uA
- LH2
target parity quality
- 15 hours
for this period
(runs
19949-19976)
- Efficiency loss due to beam trip : 16 % (improvment is
seen)
- Efficiency loss due to Beam parity : 6 %
- Overall total of 54.3
hours (runs
19815-19976)
Achievements
during this period:
1) Beam at 40 uA and running with 6 mm halo
target
2) IHWP is now OUT (IHWP-OUT)
- Moeller measurement performed (Moeller)
- Slope adjustment
(RHWP)
3) Feedback operation and beam parity quality
- Data continues to look pretty good
(see Feedback)
4) 120 Hz are being replayed by the worker (120Hz1,
120Hz2,
120Hz3)
- OK, so 120
Hz only every 8 hours.
- Investigation is underway on January data
- We may come to only one 120 Hz measurement per day.
5) Observed IN+OUT asymmetry for present (Feb.) LH2 data
is
about compatible with 0 (see IN+OUT).
Work is going on.
6) G0Integrity result is now reported in an entry by the workers
- ( G0Int1,
G0Int2,
G0Int3).
Thanks
7) Coil modulation small problem is fixed (see Coil-Bug2)
Also change the run plan to account for short trips
(no need
to re-run the script in this case)
8) Confirmation of the increase of efficiency in data taking
- Now >
14 hours/day, with 1-2 hours down for configuration changes
- About 80%
of efficiency for Parity quality data in production runs
9) New update of the dataBase (DB)
10) New suggestions to make shift worker even more busy (Summary)
11) Thanks to a donation by Bill Vulcan, coffee and tea are available
in the counting house again.
12) Upset the shift worker with spelling error. Corrected by
apologies and correction/removal of my
faulty entry.
On
a more general basis. Mid-Term plan
1) We will likely change the IHWP
state on Thursday (2/19)
- Make a
Moeller measurement before and after
- Depending on if a beam development is made or not that day
- Make a RIP scan or
just adjust the slope
2) Fastbus measurement to perform a check of the gain and
set a reference spectra.
- Underway: Tuesday
2/17
at 4 PM
- Run plan has been proposed (Calib)
3) BPM/BCM calibration need to be done every week.
- Tentative Wednesday
2/18.
- Mark
has asked for a gain change in BCM1
- Thus 2 measurements
are necessary (before and after change)
4) Lumi scan on LH2 (asked by Silviu and Jianglai).
- Tentative Wednesday
2/18.
- Need target expert
around
- Need to change
administrative limit on beam current
- Al frame target at
20 uA
Concerns
A) PMT Gain
calibration
- Need reference spectra before going for months of data
taking on LH2
- Need quick analysis if one wants to perform
changes
B) Beam trip can be
hurting us ...
- Rates of up to 10 trips/hour (see Trips)
- Loss of data is 70s*Ntrip, so about a 20% loss in efficiency
- The way to see the trip
rate (Info-Trip)
C) Several runs reported to have
rate problems with French FPD/electronics
- Need to investigate run 19896 see DT-Pb
- Rates too low due to spikes in ToF (detected from
G0Integrity analysis) see DMCH-Pbs
