Run Plan Friday 02-06-2004Run Plan - Wednesday 01-28-2004
RC Summary Wednesday/Thursday 02-12-2004
- Change to LH2 made on
Wednesday
morning
- Data taking on LH2 target with 40 uA
- IA and PZT scans after beam intensity increase
- Not too satisfactory but acceptable (see IA-PZT)
- Serious interferences (trip rates) with higher gradiant
operation of the
machine.
- Time loss due to magnet problem in the accelerator
- Problems related to DAQ and data replay, but not hurting
data taking
- Problem of disk space (see Diskspace
and Cache)
- Issue with French Electronics
- Problem with event configuration (see EvtConf1
, EvtConf2
and CrtlFile)
- Fixing is now achieved (see Fixed)
- DAQ is ready for new files (see Fixed2)
- Files recorded this night will be treated by a non
automated way (Jianglai)
- ?? (no
database update) hours of empty target parity quality
data on tape
(runs
19805-19846)
- Paddle current
- 3.2 uA as
expected for 40 uA for LH2 target
Achievements during this period:
1) Beam at 40 uA.
- Need some work to reduce Halo rates (a bit too
high)
- Positions within 0.5 mm of the specifications
2) Threshold studies performed (when beam quality were
poor)
- NA digit from 7 down to 1
- French thresholds from 100 down to 25 mV
- Need
analysis to draw conclusions or continue
3) DMCH boards : change VXI slot allocation and cable length (see Cable)
- Differential linearity optmization of 9 DMCH
boards
(see elog entries DiffLin1
to DiffLin2)
- News Threshold Files (see Tresholds)
- Update after board changes (see ddr
)
4) New integration script available (IntgScript)
On
a more general basis
1) We will likely change the IHWP
state the coming Friday
Make a RIP scan just after, and
eventually Moeller measurement
2) Moeller measurements on Friday
too.
We
need
people to attend the training provided by Dave and Tanja !!!
3) Energy measurements typically once ... for ever.
After discussion
with
Mark Jones to be scheduled after 5 PM on Thursday.
4) BPM/BCM calibration typically every week. Next week.
5) Use no beam time for DNL calibration (NA and French). Also search
for
helicity correlated ground loop. This happen
usually often enough ...
Concerns
A) Beam
position and halo
- Difficulties observed
to steer the beam and have the nominal position
- Paul identified change in condition during Sunday Owl
shift.
- See how skilled he is now with Excel files/plot History
- Information passed to the PD after MCC weekly meeting
- Julie working on results of Harp scan. In touch with A.
Freinberger
B) Halo rates
- Rates are now too large to use 6 mm hole target
- New attempt possible when 40 uA beam is sent back to us
- Not sucessful.
- Rates at 11 mm contnue to exceed the recommended
numbers
- Ask to call expert as this is lasting since too
long
I have raised this issue
with the PD. People from the machine (optics, injector)
should meet and eventually ask
some G0 expert to come and discuss (Kaz, Julie, ...).
I would like to have a clear
picture of what happened on Sunday Owl which explain
why we are having these
difficulties with the position and halo (not able anymore
to pass the 6 mm hole).
C) FPD 2-14-FL
- Change in timing (see ToFshift)
and also a mail from Angela
- Amplitude and shape to be checked with scope. Nothing
special observed (see Scope)
