    Run Coordinator's report - Thursday January 8th, 2004

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL !
    and
All the best for G0 !

Things I learnt that happened since December 24th, 2003 :
    - FSD of the G0 target is operational.
    - The prebuncher amplitude has been modified in the injector.
    -  Some work has been performed on gun 3 (super lattice photocathode).

    Status of the source :
    - For the upcoming data taking we will keep on using gun 2 (strained layered photocathode).
    - The quantum efficiency (QE) of gun 2 photocathode is currently 0.09
The acceptable limit is around 0.05. Increasing the QE can be made :
                    * changing the the spot location on the photocathode which require 1h,
                    * reactivating the photocathode which takes 8h.
In both case, no beam is delivered to halls so it has to be scheduled well in advance.

What has been done today :
    - TLDs have been put in place in the hall (K. Grimm)
    - Batteries and 50 Ohms Terminator have been installed (g0log entries  #72623 and  #72626 )
    - Hall C switched to "Beam permit" at  6:30pm
    - The electronic of the G0 laser has been replaced and the laser was operational at 7pm.

    Plan for tomorrow :
    - Compatibility test of hall A / G0 beam.
    - As soon as we get beam in hall C, Kaz will start checking the beam properties.
    - The decision of delivering beam to hall A and hall C at the same time is expected on monday.

Plans for the next few days :
    - We will run without any target at least until monday.
    - Halo calibration (Sarah Phillips)
    - BPM / BCM calibrations
    - Test on the Y0 signal (Paul King/Klaus Grimm)
    - Frame (specific G0 Aluminium target !) data : analysis of the data taken in December needs to be continued and we  need to ckeck with Greg whether it could be used while the target is warmed up.
    -  Perform asymmetry measurements with cold H2 or He gas.
